Balancing Board Exams and Entrance Preparation
Every Class 12 student asks the same question: should I focus on boards or on the entrance exam? Treating them as two separate syllabi is the most common and most costly mistake.
The overlap is larger than it looks
For Biology and Chemistry, the NCERT content that carries your board marks is the same content NEET tests. The difference is the depth of questioning, not the material.
Where they genuinely diverge
- Board exams reward structured, well-presented written answers
- Entrance exams reward speed and accurate elimination
- Physics numericals go substantially deeper for JEE than for boards
A workable split
Through most of the year, keep roughly seventy percent of study time on entrance preparation. In the six weeks before boards, invert it. Because the underlying content is shared, this shift costs far less momentum than students fear.
